Amurrun Markings, which are blueprint-like birthmarks on that show a detailed breakdown of some object that the Amurrun often spend their lives trying to create.
Halfling Markings are the coloured hieroglyphics which appear on a halfling throughout their lives. These appear to represent various important events that the halfling in question experienced first-hand, such as winning a competition, getting married, or experiencing a war or assassination of a king. Halfling skin is exceptionally durable, even beyond death, and has at times been flayed to make history books. More commonly however is making copies by filling the glyphs’ grooves with charcoal or ink and then printing it over onto paper. Due to the glyphs’ function in recording history, many halflings are known to go into genealogy, history, and journalism.
There is some debate as to whether the creation of these marks is done by the force of the halflings themselves. If it is, then it is likely subconscious, as most halflings can explain the appearance of new glyphs as a surprise to them. While this may be so, it might imply the glyphs are affected by the Halflings’ subjective perception of events.
An alternate theory nails the markings as a broad and detached magical phenomenon connected to Yond. Those who believe this often tout the halfling records as objective history.
