Overview
Halflings are a short people often reminiscent of small humans. What sets them apart is seemingly random features such as hooves, thin tails and horns (often compared to devils), the rubbery texture of their body, and the Halfling Markings which appear on their skin as they live life - documenting important events in the form of hieroglyphs. While halflings don’t tend to visually age like humans, one can usually tell a halfling’s rough age by the amount of markings on them. Halflings are not born, but rather found wrapped up like “rubber eggs” - usually around or near Halfling Ruins. They tend to only awaken once another ancestry has found them, many of which end up adopting the addled juvenile halfling. Halflings are never common anywhere due to this, but are less rare around Galae, eastern Canath and western Mogxa.

Halflings are usually viewed with mistrust however, and many are either left behind by their finders or go on to live lives in which they have to learn to be quiet and take up little space. It is perhaps because of this that halflings are known to be stealthy. One job they often end up taking is that of helping in kitchens, away from the scrying eyes of customers.
Some halflings, left behind after being discovered, “hatch” and come to with nobody to guide them or teach them other languages. Usually staying in the ruins or wilderness they’re found in, these halflings have an ominous reputation, often dubbed “feral halflings.”
Due to the strange nature of where halflings come from, much speculation has been made about their origins. Very popular is the conflation of Halflings with the planet of Yond and its personification the Daydreaming Truth - explaining halflings as its eyes and ears, and halfling markings as its memory. A number of halflings embrace this and make it part of their identity, taking on the jobs of spies, historians and journalists. Even those who don’t, however, are usually painted with a similar brush by other ancestries, who say one should not let a halfling near ones secrets.
Some who believe the halfling connection to Truth insist that halfling eggs must drop from the sky, when Yond is high in the Night Sky.

Notes
Considering using Nephilim feats for Halflings, as many of them would cover the ground of the Halflings’ ‘random’ features such as tails, horns and hooves.
