Warning
Not to be confused with the similar Godpowder. There is no real life equivalent of blackpowder or gunpowder in Vendrith.
A mild red powder made from dessicated Elixirs of Life.
Like the elixirs, it causes a hot burning sensation upon touch or taste, which many find to have a pleasing, pain-relieving and invigorating effect, but consumed raw it does not have any healing properties.
When a flask of Elixir of Life has dried out or otherwise expired, the redpowder is the largest residue of the liquid. That powder then is either recycled or more often than not, thrown as an improvised explosive by the alchemist. Much to the glassworkers dismay of where all those flasks are going.
Redpowder can be used for pyrotechnic applications, such as fireworks and alchemically flaming arrows. It can also be used to a lesser extent in cannons and firearms, but the amount of redpowder required to make projectiles fly anywhere close to a bow or crossbow makes it both impractical and wasteful beyond fortifications and naval combat, and even then it is primarily used as a special attack backed up by conventional kinetic weapons, like ballistae.
