The Celesteyne are a series of Eye, floating and moving islands, that are centred above and around the Celene sea of Canath. Due to their presence, this is one of the few areas in the world that makes use of costly and cumbersome Flying Ships.
Canathi mages have learned how to steer these Eyne, if slowly, over the centuries. The Eyne somewhat regularly touch down and just about float the waters of the Celene itself in order to re-fill supplies. This has to be done in a place and during a time that it is not vulnerable to attack, since it provides an ideal time for would-be conquerors to seize the otherwise highly-defendable islands.
The Eyne move around the Celene but rarely cross over the land. Due to a peculiarity of the waters of the Celene, it breaks up falls from a much higher distance than regular water does before becoming as deadly as hitting hard ground. A small number of warriors and adventurers of Canath take advantage of this and learn to dive from extremely high distances into the Celene, which can allow surprise attacks or rapid reinforcements of naval or coastal battles.
Notable Celesteyne include:
Some Celesteyne have met grim fates, losing their control or float and crashing down into the Celene before sinking to the ocean floor - creating underwater ruins.
