Mounts, animal which are suited to being ridden to move fast or reliably over long distances, have been used throughout all of History of Civilisation. They’re rather essential for land-based Mercantilism and Agriculture, and have gained a special role for logistics and elite units in Warfare. The most common example is Horses, though mounts exist in a variety of exotic flavours often suited to the specific climate and terrain. Mounts have to be larger than their rider, which makes smaller ancestries capable of riding a number of mounts not possible for others.
Mundane mounts include:
- Horses (and war horses)
- Mules (and Augdunar)
- Goats
- Camels
- Llamas
- Corgis
- Elephants
- Giraffes
- Pangolin
- Rhinoceros
- Triceratops
- Tyrannosaurus
More exotic land mounts include:
- Axebeaks
- Terror Birds
- Dire Wolves
- Draft Lizards
- Monitor Lizards
- Giant Beetles
- Giant Frogs
- Riding Drakes
Some few mounts are capable of flight, though these require both the mount and the rider to be especially trained - and as such they’re usually exclusive to praetorian guards or similar. Possible flying mounts include:
- Griphon
- Hippogriff
Others are aquatic in nature:
- Sharks
And some mounts are really the creation of Magic, Alchemy or Invention:
- Construct Companions
- Legchair
- Rootball Chair
- Oozeform Chair
