With a Twist!

Multiple of the ancestries of Vendrith may seem quite different, at least in appearance, to their traditional fantasy namesakes. This is particularly true of Elves, Halflings, Dwarves, Gnomes and Orcs. All of them however are meant to still be reminiscent of their originals, but with a twist.

In the absence of other information, you are free to assume ancestries are similar to their traditional/pathfinder lore. If they turn out not to be you can always play it off as your character having a misconceived stereotype!

Overview

The ancestries of Vendrith, people, refers to the sapient and mostly humanoid Creatures of Vendrith whom clearly possess consciousness and are capable of language. Those whom don’t cleanly fit into this category whilst also not being mere Animals are usually called Monsters. Whether Deities and other divine or primal beings remain people is an open question.

The traditional Mythos of Vendrith has it that life on Vendrith was painted in the Creator Monkey’s image, and it is thus assumed the first people alive were similar to anthropomorphic monkeys. Possibly supporting this theory is the fact that Vanara, whom claim to be an offshoot that diverged from what would become Hobgoblins, still retain an appearance remarkably similar to what these original people are believed to look like.

In this tradition, all goblinoids are believed to be direct descendants of the monkey peoples (though the Vanara discredit them for losing their essence). Goblins remain the plurality population of Vendrith by a small margin, only being closely followed by Humans.

The origin of humans is somewhat unclear, though they are most commonly believed to be descendants of goblinoids that were imbued with divine aesthetics. Some speculate the First Ascended, the first leader of the Flock of Man and creator of Titanhood, also created humanity - though there are no known reliable records of the peoples of this time and before it. Some humans claim their own supremacy due to this supposedly divine character of theirs.

Dragons, much like animals and monsters, are not thought to be of the monkey peoples of Vendrith but of the Creator Monkey’s imagination. Dragons however can claim that they were made in the image of the Sibling Dragons, whom moved the creator to tears with their beauty and became the canvas upon which Vendrith was painted. Since the Draconic Concordat, most dragons became (often begrudgingly) Dragonbloods instead. Kobolds are often associated with dragons, but can actually be found in forms that diverge drastically.
