The Occult is a field covering much knowledge that is either lost, taboo or forbidden - not included in the other Divine Magic, Arcane and Primal Magic schools of thought. This includes the Occult type of Magic, which is less understood and seemingly more arbitrary than that of other magic systems. The Occult famously makes up the +1 in the 3+1 Theorem, as an alien force outside of the sacred Trinities of the Cosmos. The Occult is often studied in cults and secret societies, away from the eyes of the Law which often forbids much of it, and the commoners who fear it so.
In the popular imagination, the Occult is merely a tool to cast Curses and control people. Those who understand the Occult more describe it as a magic that works through consciousness, and thus makes common use of mental elements such as stories and belief - in a sense a form of deep persuasion that can affect both Persons and the World. This is what makes Bardic Magic, the most commonly accepted and beloved form of Occult Magic (though still sometimes feared), work like it does. Witches and Necromancers are especially feared practitioners of occult magic.
Occult magic can be considered related to Arcane magic and their arcane language in turn, though whereas arcane magic uses symbols with a specific (if unique) meaning, occult magic uses ghost characters whose complete meaning is (and perhaps must remain) unknown.
Some groups that practice the occult are:
- Seeing Societies of Mogxa.
- Kholo blood cults.
- Keepers of Yore.
