The Cosmology of Vendrith is the study of how not just the mundane, Material Plane of Vendrith’s lands exist, but how greater forces of existence - and their ties to Magic - connect together. Important is the existence of various Planes of Existence, referring in a way to a sort of region that exists separately to the mundane world, but which is still connected to and influences it. Contrary to the typical misconception of commoners, planes are not entirely separate worlds that are only narrowly connected through small portals - but rather overlap and border each other in various ways.

The starting point of Cosmology may have been the Mythos of Vendrith. The most used and endorsed framework to understand and study planes nowadays is the Great Flow Theory, which posits that all planes exist in various spots on a downward spiral, in which all is created at the top in Azure and all is destroyed at the bottom in Abbadon.

Planet is a term used for planes that are visible in the night or day sky.

Other possible planes are:

  • Labyrinthia, an unstable demi-plane that creates short lived “tunnels” between spots in Materia.
  • The Plane of Seeing or Plane of Truesight, something referred to by Orcs as reachable by the proper use of Lotus Orcus.
  • Cloudrealm, a cloudy plane though to be found by ascending the sky.
  • The River of Death, the place most souls are thought to go to after Death.
  • The Moons of Vendrith, Velf, Tritas and Kiya.
  • Yond, an enormous dark planet almost always visible above.
  • The Rustyard, a mysterious plane thought to inhabit forgotten dreams and memories.
  • Deep Gray, a mysterious plane that may be related to Gnomes.
  • The Feydark, a mysterious plane that may be related to the Deep Gray and Gnomes.
