Ergruff Ward is a Kitsune found half-feral in the woods and raised by Chatwood, whom would go on to become a Crusader. Somewhat overweight and with white fur, Ward is usually dressed or armoured lightly, preferring not to cover himself up or weigh himself down too much. Despite his hampered intelligence, Ward has proven his physical prowess and aim.
Around his late teens, he stayed in the secret cult town of Veridica. Here, experiments were being done infusing Ward with energy from Leylines, hoping to uncover the ability to realise Utopian Theory. The cult town is also said to have imprisoned Chaucer, an infamous Sanitationist long hunted by the Crusaders. One day, the cult’s card castle came crumbling down and Ergruff Ward had to confront its council alongside the Fools of Veridica. The town subsequently vanished, and Ward is one of the very few from there known to have resurfaced.
After the Veridica incident, Ward appeared without his previous ability to cast spells (likely due to sustaining some lasting injury, physical or magical). He instead donned divine firearms and has served as muscle, and occasionally, an assassin, for the crusaders.
Likely related to his new occupation, Ward travelled to Friedport. As he arrived, he briefly partook in a quest with the Welcoming Party. It is perhaps not a coincidence the town of Veridica was rediscovered near Friedport, though this is only known by a select few.
Ergruff Ward is believed to revere the Triumphant Successor for his physical prowess and sense of just battle.
