Chaucer was an prodigal Amurrun adventurer turned agent of Sanitorium ideology, infamous for having enacted various crackdowns and atrocities towards people thought to be associated with the Crusaders. Even in Mogxa he was controversial, his brutality too much for all but the most ardent sanitationists to bear.
Chaucer was formerly an adventurer that sided with the Sanitorium during the Adventurer Crisis, contributing to its ultimate victory in the standoff. This likely earned him the high position in Sanitorium politics afterwards, which he used to carry out violent crackdowns and anti-Crusader operations.
After the Espionage Crisis, Chaucer was captured in an ambush called the March of the Roses (as organised by Bande Aparte) and many of those around him killed in order to get to and secure Chaucer. He was transported off by the crusaders all the way to Veridica, though his current status since the fall of said village is unclear. Chaucer here met Chatwood and Ergruff Ward.
