Auchton is a settlement on the eastern edge of the Celene of Canath, making up the northern part of Tower Canath. It is shielded by the Auchi Mountains just inland of it, around and beyond which lie a number of old mines which were once a world supplier of tin but now which lie at minimal capacity or completely abandoned. Auchton neighbours the other centres of Twinvale to the north-west and Gulmfort to the south-east, and also has access to the Old Passage to Galae and Ferweth through the Red Desert. This passage has also already seen its glory days pass by, with the metal trade having dried up and the desert having become even more uninhabitable.
It is believed the word “tonne” (sometimes spelled ton) comes from the historical metal trade of Auchton.
