Secrets ahead! - Landcrab Plot
While anyone is free to read what’s ahead, everything else in this article is privileged knowledge only known to a few specific people in the world of Vendrith. Take particular caution to not assume your character knows these things, or avoid it entirely if you’re worried about keeping your own and your characters’ knowledge separate!
During the Landcrab Plot, Barbie faced off against Gator Grippli and Louen Leonceur of the The Landcrab Plot in a training tournament preparing for the eventual Summer Games. In it, she lost a match for the first time in a long while, earning the newcomers her respect.
As Barbie went to retrieve the prize money from her secure stash she was assaulted by a mysterious assailant - later revealed to be the Scurvymaster and Doctor Doctor Hallan Aerf. Inside, before the Newcomers realised what was happening, Barbie was pinned down and her arm surgically removed before she eventually fainted from the pain - the Scurvymaster would go on to use this arm as a replacement for his long lost left-arm. As the Newcomers entered and found her unconscious, they failed to chase after the Scurvymaster or fully identify him.
The Newcomers moved Barbie’s unconscious self to trusted friends, first Desmet Gaius, then the apothecary and doctor-in-training Davian. Barbie was diagnosed to be unlikely to wake up after the many nerves expertly removed from her, but was kept alive in the hopes of bringing her back. After a long coma, the Doctor Roslyn Chatkur entered the picture and dared to try bring her back with surgery. Securing a replacement arm (from Carlos Valenci’s grave), she attached a new arm to Barbie’s stub and nerves. Barbie went on to awaken in periodic short bursts soon thereafter, and would eventually make a near-full recovery.
