A friendly, small and green trip-kee known for wearing a cowboy hat. As a summoner, he is usually accompanied by his alligator-like eidolon Schnappi. Raised by animals in the Veducian Wilds, he bonded with his eidolon to save it after its mother was killed by a trophy hunter (later revealed to be Gozi Windaji hunting on commission for The Fat Tiger).
After leaving the jungle and traversing civilization, Gator took on small jobs for various villages and learned to speak Idurian whilst doing so. Gator Grippli eventually sought his fortunes in the new world, as he travelled to Friedport. Here he would meet Ashur Holdok and Bande Aparte, with whom he formed the The Landcrab Plot.
Together with the newcomers Gator worked on uncovering the brewing Landcrab Plot. Gator played a leading role in having Ashur reincarnated after his untimely demise. It was also in Friedport Gator met the hunter and killer of Schnappi’s mother - Gozi Windaji. Gator Grippli would go on to learn that Gozi was partners in crime with the thief and friend of Gator Vendy Vendetta Rapidly, cooperating to try to steal their way out of a sort of slave-slike contractual obligation to the Fat Tiger. Eventually managing to see Gozi as a victim of unfair circumstances, Gator was able to work alongside Gozi and Vendy to hunt for the Vestitur.
Believing Bande Aparte to have been killed and his body stolen, Gator, Cardinal Rackawn and Ashur sought out and destroyed a Desecrator camp hidden near Friedport to get the corpse back. Here the newcomers put an end to the Old Crone as well as the lingering spirit of Auldwell, but not before almost being killed. In a desperate bid to save his friends, Gator Grippli made a Devil Deal with the Good Doctor, and managed to turn the tide around. Thanks to this, the Newcomers were able to participate in the Summer Games, win the titles Herōes of Friedport, and put an end to the Landcrab Plot once and for all.
Having told lies as part of an infiltration once, Gator was viewed as a rival by Mistress Crimtone for most of the landcrab plot. Eventually however, Gator would save Crimtone from the captivity of the Fat Tiger, reconcile, and develop a form of relationship.
Because of the devil deal Gator had made, Schnappi was threatened by also having its soul claimed by the Good Doctor. Not wanting to let this happen, Gator eventually bid his lifelong companion goodbye and released Schnappi as his eidolon.
Gator is nowadays believed to be travelling with Cardinal Rackawn and Princess Ionelle (as fellow victims of devil deals), as well as the potentially romantically involved Mistress Crimtone.
