Su Na is a water-Druid and Monk from Friedport, and a close friend and aide of The Prince. He appears standoffish and doesn’t talk much, but is known to make up much of the work behind the scenes propping up The Prince. He is known to personally work towards preservation of animals and nature, and popularly, the cleanliness of the city.

Su Na grew up at the Theatre Orphanage together with The Prince and Etcetera, and later, Karvi Massiri. Su Na was particularly close to Etctera, and was deeply affected when she disappeared. Afterwards he grew increasingly suspicious of Karvi, and ever-more loyal to The Prince, helping boost his confidence and guide him on a path to popularity amongst the Landcrabs of the city. This would eventually result in their shared dominion over Waterlogg Street. This street would be characterised by Su Na’s cleanliness, and the variety of water Elementals Su Na summoned there.

Su Na also established a small nature lodge in the hills over Friedport, near a graveyard overlooking the city from afar. Here him, his friends, and certain children he tutored could enjoy the fresh air of nature and interactions with animals. Su Na has proven quite attached to the natural world, and defends trying to limit the expansion of cities like Friedport to save and harmonise with as much nature as possible.

Su Na was important to bringing to light the idea that The Prince was a bastard child of Valfrid Veldaks, a claim he continued to support in private.

Secrets ahead!

While anyone is free to read what’s ahead, everything else in this article is privileged knowledge only known to a few specific people in the world of Vendrith. Take particular caution to not assume your character knows these things, or avoid it entirely if you’re worried about keeping your own and your characters’ knowledge separate!

During their late teens, Su Na began to notice signs of and believe that Etcetera was not a human, but an Aquatic Shapeshifter, possibly one sent by the Ocean King. After confronting her on the issue, she denied serving anyone but herself. Not long after, she disappeared from the orphanage for good. Su Na long struggled with wondering what happened to her, knowing that if she disappeared to serve the Ocean King that he’d been lied to and betrayed, but if that was not the case that he had doubted her and damaged their relationship during their last moments together.

At least one aquatic shapeshifter of the Ocean King would go on to use Su Na’s secret underground pool under The Prince’s theatre as a hiding place. The The Landcrab Plot killed this creature which Su Na went on to discover the corpse of (the Newcomers also lost one of their own, Ashur Holdok). In the aftermath, Su Na grew a sort of grudge against the Newcomers as he wondered if who they’d killed had been Etcetera. To get this out of his system, he participated in a brawling tournament against Gator Grippli and Louen Leonceur. After losing this battle, he ripped out his eye and went to his nature lodge to recover.

Overcoming the grudge, Su Na and The Prince would go on to meet and cooperate with Bande Aparte to investigate the disappearance of Etcetera, and more broadly, the Landcrab Plot. Doing so lead Bande Aparte and the Newcomers to the manor of O’ Captain, whom turned out to be a cultist of the Ocean King. Using a secret map underneath floor tiles in his manor, the Newcomers identified an underwater temple that tied the surface agents to the underwater network of the Ocean King. Here, the Newcomers fought, and killed, an agent which had been promoted and transformed into an enormous fish-like creature. This creature Su Na believed to have been Etcetera.
