After the Sanitorium was proclaimed and the Kobold Emperor abdicated, a number of provinces, tribes and governors refused to serve or recognise the Sanitorium’s new rule over Mogxa. As a result, the Sanitorium led a number of wars and conflicts in order to reunify what the empire previously held. It was due to the exhaustion of the troops that just fought the War Over Haeven and the possible fragmentation of the young regime that it was mostly fought at a small scale, often including routs and temporary cease-fires, and it made high use of Mercenaries and Adventurers. The war took on a step-by-step approach, and eventually did succeed in claiming what the former empire held.
The high use of Mercenaries and Adventurers was paid for with looted treasuries, throne-rooms, local provinces and other artefacts. This lead to a concentration of wealth in the Societies of Mogxa whom acted as the interlocutor lending out many of the soldiers for hire - undoing much progress done by the Kobold Throne in trying to disempower them. The most powerful and independent adventurers who served would also become powerful folk heroes, rivalling that of the Titanslayers. They eventually threatened to overthrow the Sanitorium during the Adventurer Crisis.
