Captain Damia was a Ysoki of eastern Mogxa origin, which migrated to and became a leading guard and political figure in Friedport. Here, she cultivated a “family” of guards helping keep the city under control which she named her Patrollers. These Patrollers were not entirely committed to the law, acting much like a mafia at times, but valued community and stability over all else. With this power base behind her, Damia eventually earned a spot on the council of three ruling Friedport, together with Kiam Lockneed and General Kard. She briefly served as the city’s governor, before stepping down in favour of Kiam.

During her later life, she would (surprisingly) entrust much of importance to a relatively new recruit in the Patrollers - Captain Dobi. Some suspect this is because Damia no longer trusted her own force, and/or that Dobi reminded her of her younger self. Dobi would go on to play an important role in the reforms to Friedport following the conclusion of the Landcrab Plot and ousting of Kiam Lockneed.

Captain Damia lost her life during the landcrab rebellion and golem attacks on Friedport.

I love this city. And I trust it to keep its shit in order. I merely work to keep longer arms off the scale.

Secrets ahead!

While anyone is free to read what’s ahead, everything else in this article is privileged knowledge only known to a few specific people in the world of Vendrith. Take particular caution to not assume your character knows these things, or avoid it entirely if you’re worried about keeping your own and your characters’ knowledge separate!

Damia was also the secret half-sister of Ragnil Veldaks, the widowed wife of the former Hero of Friedport. Knowing her sister (and not being all too dissimilar herself), Damia long suspected Ragnil was manipulating the city as the “Shadow Over Friedport.” One such example was the verdict of the trial against Bande Aparte, which nearly contradicted the evidence shown if not for the timely intervention of Dobi. Damia fought to keep her sister in check and prevent the rise of a rebellious Landcrab populace, fearing disaster if the city’s institutions were to collapse or end up in Ragnil’s hands.
